A Medical Textile Manufacturer with the Processes In-House
We build the ultrasonic, bonding and seam sealing machines we use, and produce our own tapes and adhesives. That lets us choose the joining method for each seam on your medical apparel or product: welded, bonded, taped or sewn.
Thread-free welds on synthetic fabrics and nonwovens, with no needle holes.
Tape sealed over stitched seams on reusable gowns and healthcare garments.
Soft, flexible bonds for medical clothing and close-to-skin products.
Laser Cutting and Heat-Applied Labels
Sealed, fray-free edges on synthetic fabrics, and heat-applied labels for product identification.
What We Work On, and What Stays with the Brand
Medical products carry regulatory requirements that belong to the brand or device maker. To keep responsibilities clear from the start, this is where our work begins and ends:
| We work on | Outside our scope |
|---|---|
| Healthcare garments, gowns and uniforms | Implantable textiles and wound dressings |
| Hygiene textile products | Sterile processing and packing |
| Textile components for non-implantable medical products | Regulatory approval of the finished product |
| Seam, bond and wash testing to ISO and AATCC methods | Barrier classification and medical device certification testing |
How We Develop a Medical Textile Product, from Specification to Bulk
Specification Review
We review your product specification, fabrics and how the item is used and cleaned.
Process Selection
We choose welding, bonding or taping for each seam, based on the fabric and what the seam has to withstand in use and cleaning.
Trials and Testing
We trial the process on your fabric and test seam strength, peel strength and wash durability to ISO, AATCC or your own methods.
Documentation
Settings, materials and checks are written into an SOP, so the process can be reviewed and repeated.
Bulk Production
Production runs in our Sri Lanka facility, with settings checked every two hours and tests on the line.
Medical Textiles FAQs
What are medical textiles?
Medical textiles are fabrics and textile products used in healthcare. They are grouped as implantable, non-implantable, extracorporeal, and healthcare and hygiene products. Ardmel works on non-implantable textiles, healthcare garments and hygiene products.
Are you a medical textile manufacturer in Sri Lanka?
Yes. Ardmel develops and manufactures medical clothing and healthcare garments in Sri Lanka for non-implantable uses. Regulatory approval of the finished product stays with the brand.
Why use ultrasonic welding for medical textiles?
Ultrasonic welding joins synthetic fabrics and nonwovens without thread, so there are no needle holes and no stitching to shed fibers. It works on fabrics with at least 65% synthetic content.
Do you provide sterile manufacturing or product certification?
No. Sterile processing, product registration and device certification stay with the brand or device maker. We provide the bonded, welded or sealed product, the process documentation and the seam and wash test results.
Which tests do you run on medical textile seams?
Seam strength to ISO 13935, water penetration to ISO 811 or AATCC 127, wash durability after washing to ISO 6330, and peel strength to your method or our in-house method.
