A Tactical Clothing Manufacturer with Sealing and Bonding In-House
Our seam sealing, bonding and ultrasonic machines are built in-house, and our tape range includes tapes made for military garments and gear. Each construction is chosen for the job the garment does in the field, for tactical apparel brands and the forces and services they supply.
Fully taped seams on waterproof tactical outerwear: jackets, smocks and pants.
Bonded patches at knees, elbows and shoulders, where kit and movement cause wear.
Thread-free welded seams on fleece and synthetic layers, for less bulk under load-carrying kit.
Heated Panel Integration
Heated panels bonded into jackets, gloves and tactical wear.
What Field Garments Need from Their Seams
Tactical and military clothing is worn hard, for long periods, under kit. These are the requirements we design seams around:
| Requirement | How we build it |
|---|---|
| Stay dry in sustained rain | Fully taped seams with tape matched to the laminate, tested for hydrostatic head |
| Manage condensation | Two-layer constructions that separate weather protection from moisture management, the approach behind SDP |
| Take abrasion from kit and terrain | Bonded reinforcements at knees, elbows, seat and shoulders |
| Keep bulk down under equipment | Welded and bonded seams in place of thick stitched seams |
| Hold up to repeated field washing | Adhesives and tapes tested through repeated wash cycles before bulk |
From Requirement to Bulk: How We Make Tactical Clothing
Requirement Review
We review your specification, fabrics and the conditions the garment is used in.
Construction Plan
We decide where to seal, bond, weld or reinforce, and select tapes and adhesives for the fabric.
Sampling and Testing
Samples are tested for water penetration, seam strength, peel strength and wash durability against the methods in your specification.
Bulk Production
Garments are made in our Sri Lanka facility on Ardmel machines, with each construction written into a production SOP.
In-Line Checks
Settings are checked every two hours in bulk, with hydrostatic tests on taped shells and peel tests on bonded reinforcements.
Tactical and Military Clothing FAQs
Are you a tactical clothing manufacturer?
Yes. Ardmel develops and manufactures tactical and military clothing in Sri Lanka, including waterproof shells, pants, shirts and insulated layers, with sealed, bonded and welded seams chosen for field use.
What is SDP?
System Dual Protection (SDP) is a two-layer construction by Keela that separates external weather protection from internal moisture management, to control condensation. It was originally developed for military applications.
Do you make garments to military specifications?
We do not certify garments to military specifications. We build to the specification you provide, test seams for water penetration, seam strength, peel strength and wash durability, and share the results. Approval against a military or government standard stays with the brand or the contracting body.
Can waterproof military and tactical clothing stay light?
Yes. Welded and bonded seams replace bulky stitched seams, and fully taped seams keep water out, so a shell can stay light and packable.
Do you supply machines and tapes to tactical clothing factories?
Yes. Ardmel builds seam sealing, ultrasonic and bonding machines and produces tapes and adhesives, available through ardmel.com.
