Seam Sealing
Hot air seam sealing and tape selection for waterproof jackets, rainwear and protective clothing, with seam checks built into the production run.
Ultrasonic Welding
Needle-free, thread-free seams for synthetic fabrics, made on Ardmel’s SMS-600 ultrasonic sewing machine.
Adhesive and Tape Testing

Design & Development
We turn the concept into a construction that can be made: pattern and fit, fabric and tape selection, then bonded or welded prototypes you can wear, wash and test.
Technical Engineering
We choose the construction method for each seam, whether stitched, bonded, welded or a hybrid. Then we set the machine parameters and test peel strength, seam strength and waterproofness until the results hold.

We confirm the process at production speed, record the settings in a standard operating procedure and train your operators, so garment one thousand matches the approved sample.

Ardmel was founded in Glenrothes, Scotland, in 1973 as an engineering business building special-purpose machinery. In 1979 it built its first seam sealing machine, the MK-1, and built it well enough that some of the original units were still running 30 years later.
That engineering business, Ardmel Automation in Glenrothes, Fife, is now part of a group that includes Ardmel Manufacturing in Sri Lanka and the Keela outdoor and tactical clothing brands. So when we advise on your garment, the advice comes from people who design the machines, supply the tapes and adhesives, and produce technical garments in bulk themselves.
