Adhesive & tape testing that eliminates production surprises
We test adhesives, seam tapes, and bonding materials against your specific fabrics and production conditions — so you know exactly how they’ll perform before you commit to bulk production.
What we test and how
Our testing programme covers every failure mode we’ve seen in production — from immediate peel to long-term wash degradation. Each test is run under real production conditions, not just lab simulations.
Peel strength testing
Measures the force required to separate bonded fabric layers under controlled conditions. Test results are used to validate bonding performance and define acceptance criteria according to the garment’s intended end use.
Wash durability testing
Samples are tested through 5, 10, 25, and 50 wash cycles to verify bond integrity over garment life. We test at care label conditions and simulate industrial laundering where required.
Waterproofness testing
We test sealed seams for water penetration using hydrostatic head pressure tests, verifying that bonded and taped seams meet waterproofing ratings (e.g. 10,000mm, 20,000mm).
Material compatibility testing
We develop and validate the exact tape, temperature, pressure, and speed parameters for your specific fabric and construction — then document it in an SOP for your factory.
Heat & pressure trials
We map the processing window — the range of temperature, pressure, and dwell time that produces consistent, high-quality bonds — giving your factory team a repeatable, validated process.
Adhesive benchmarking
When you’re evaluating multiple adhesive options, we benchmark them head-to-head across peel strength, wash durability, and process ease — providing a clear recommendation with evidence.

What testing prevents
Failure mode
Root cause
How testing catches it
Bond peeling after wash
Tape/adhesive incompatible with fabric coating
Wash durability testing at 10/25/50 cycles
Adhesive bleed-through
Incorrect viscosity or application temperature
Visual inspection + material compatibility trial
Seam leaking water
Insufficient tape coverage or wrong tape type
Hydrostatic head pressure testing
Bond too stiff
Over-cure or wrong adhesive hardness
Hand-feel and flexibility assessment post-cure
Inconsistent bond in bulk
Process window too narrow for factory variation
Temperature/pressure mapping across full range

Approved parameters are documented in a production SOP ready for your factory team to follow.
Adhesive & tape testing FAQ
Can you test adhesives and tapes we currently use in production?
Yes. Send us your current materials along with a sample of the fabric. We’ll run a performance assessment and flag any issues — or confirm they’re correctly specified for your application.
Do you test against specific brand or retailer standards?
We design our testing against the performance requirements relevant to your end-use, whether that’s your own internal specification, a brand standard you’re supplying to, or common industry benchmarks such as ISO waterproofing and peel strength standards. Where required, we can engage accredited third-party testing facilities for industrial evaluations, supported by our established collaborations with trusted testing partners.
How long does a testing programme typically take?
A standard compatibility and durability testing programme typically takes 2–4 weeks, depending on the number of wash cycles required and the complexity of the test matrix. We’ll give you a clear timeline at the start.
Can you recommend replacement materials if our current ones fail?
Absolutely. If your current adhesive or tape is underperforming, we’ll identify the failure mechanism and recommend specific alternatives from our materials expertise — including products we manufacture ourselves through Ardmel Manufacturing Sri Lanka.
Don't let production find the problem for you.
Test before you scale. Send us your materials and we’ll tell you exactly what to expect in bulk.
